Summer has arrived and the warmer weather is upon us. Here’s to a summer filled with sun, warmth, energy, relaxation, fun times with family and friends.  We hope that you have time to sit, read that book you’ve been wondering about, go for a stroll with that special someone, visit the local city parks and beautiful beaches, among many other things that you love to do during the summer.   It is also a time to reflect while enjoying Mother Nature and all that she has to offer, and to perhaps take a picture of some of Penticton and South Okananagan’s gorgeous views.

In appreciation and gratitude, let us re-introduce some of the lovely folks at Oasis – our Minister Ken Jones, our Minister Emeritus – Mark Bedford, our LLWL – Judi Ritcey, our Music Leader – Sandry Andres and our Office Administrator – Sheilah Fraeser.     We are also grateful and honored to have many other talented folks grace our presence and contribute to Oasis’ family and community.     We all have something unique and special that we share with others.  We thank each and every one of you for all that you do, and all that you are.Have a Happy Summer

If you have any questions, would like to visit and/or attend a worship service at Oasis, please give us a call.   If you wish to volunteer your time and share your talents, give our office your information at  250-770-0182.

We are very blessed to be living in the South Okanagan Valley.  So many tourists arrive in Penticton and area each year to treasure the beautiful weather and sights.    We are fortunate, and we know that many stay home during the summer and others travel outside of BC to visit family and friends, and see the world.  Be safe this summer, travel well, and cherish each moment.

Sometimes our paths are gently guided into a different direction, albeit a bit of a surprise.   In the long run the path that was meant to be placed on our journey map, was encrypted in that particular moment.   Have you been wanting to “step outside of the box” and experience something new?   We invite you to try out one of our services, gatherings or events at the park.

Below is a list of some of the many opportunities that arise at Oasis:

Sunday Worships – 11:00 am

Centering Prayer – Mondays at 1:00 pm

Living Compassion – last Monday of the month 6:30 pm

Crystal Bowl Meditations – every Wednesday evening 6:30 pm

Oasis Reads – last Monday of the month – 2:00 pm

Soul Collage – first Friday of the month – 9:30 am  (will take place at Naramata Centre during the Summer – July 30th to Aug 6th)

A couple of events in the Park (Skaha Lake Park – near the Gazebo)

Potluck Pondering Picnics
You are invited to two summer potluck picnics. We will explore each of the pondering questions our six speakers offered after their presentations at the June Speaking of Spirituality evening. If you weren’t present at the June event, you are more than welcome to join the summer gatherings and the conversation.
Pondering Questions for Monday, July 11 Potluck Pondering Picnic — 5:30 p.m. Skaha Lake Park
1. What calls you deep (into your one True Self and into the world)?
2. Where have you seen a mystic faith living out a progressive social gospel?
3. Is there a time when you found yourself unexpectedly held by God’s grace?

Pondering Questions for Monday, August 8 Potluck Pondering Picnic — 5:30 p.m. Skaha Lake Park
1. Is there a difference between leading with Christian values and being a Christian leader?
2. How are you part of being the church in the world?
3. What is your relationship to snakes, bears, mosquitos and pond scum?
In case of rain, we will picnic inside at Oasis United Church. If you have questions about the summer gatherings, contact Barb McFadyen-Smuin or Nancy Wyse.

There is always something happening at Oasis, you may be nicely surprised.   We are an ever evolving, all inclusive, affirmed, surprising faith community, and we look forward to meeting many new folks that arrive during the summer to check out the local happenings.    We wish you well on your ventures throughout the summer.  May you have a safe, enjoyable and memorable summer.  Please remember your sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, water and the items for your favorite summertime event.      We look forward to seeing you at one of our worship services or gatherings.

Blessings from our Family to your Family.
